Making a Brilliant Debut! Lanhai Marine Shines at Guangzhou Agricultural New-Quality Productivity Investment Promotion Event, Jointly Blueprinting the Future of the Marine Ornamental Organism Industry

On August 8, 2025, the “Gathering Wisdom for New Agriculture, Investing in New Guangzhou” 2025 Guangzhou Urban Modern Agriculture and Agricultural New-Quality Productivity Investment and Talent Introduction Event grandly kicked off at Longping Academician Port in Huangpu District. As a leading enterprise in the field of marine ornamental organisms, Guangdong Lanhai Marine Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Lanhai Marine”) was invited to participate in this event. It not only brought a rich collection of marine organism exhibits that wowed the audience but also spoke as an enterprise representative, demonstrating its solid strength accumulated over 40 years of dedicated development in the industry to the sector and the public, and conveying its firm vision of promoting marine ornamental organisms to enter thousands of households.

Guided by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and co-hosted by the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the People’s Government of Huangpu District, this event gathered guests from nearly 130 units, including government leaders, academicians and experts, financial institutions, and representatives of agriculture-related enterprises. It served as a core platform for focusing on showcasing the development achievements and future directions of Guangzhou’s agricultural new-quality productivity.

In the specially set-up “Marine Ranch and Ornamental Fish” agricultural new-quality productivity exhibition area of the event, Lanhai Marine became the focus of the entire venue. We showcased nearly 100 species of marine ornamental organisms, among which artificially bred tridacna (holding 2 national patents), a wide variety of marine ornamental fish, and large-scale bred corals attracted particular attention. These exhibits are not only vivid examples of the “blue economy” but also break the public’s inherent perception that marine ornamental organisms “rely on wild fishing”. They directly confirm the company’s top-tier capabilities in rare species protection and artificial breeding technology, highlighting a new path for the green development of the industry empowered by science and technology.

As an enterprise representative, Lan Jingming, General Manager of the company, shared Lanhai Marine’s development history and future layout during the on-site exchange speech. Starting from the small fishing boat operation by the elder generation in 1978, we have grown into an industry leader covering four major sectors: biological trade, aquarium engineering, equipment R&D, and seedling breeding. We are the only enterprise in China with legal operation qualifications for rare species such as sand tiger sharks and humphead wrasses. We have built a 5,800-square-meter national-level Class A import quarantine isolation site and a 3,000-square-meter modern coral breeding base, with a service network covering marine aquariums and aquarium stores across the country. The achievements of 40 years of dedicated development were widely recognized by the on-site audience.

In his speech, General Manager Lan Jingming focused on introducing the “Lanhai Science and Technology Park” project that the company plans to invest in and build in Guangzhou. Positioned as an “innovative benchmark for the global ornamental fish industry”, this project will leverage Guangzhou’s regional advantages, policy dividends, and industrial foundation to construct, in two phases, a professional ornamental fish export filing base, an intelligent breeding base, an international trading center, and other facilities. It aims to become the world’s largest ornamental fish import and export port (accounting for 15% of global trade volume) and a national-level marine biological germplasm resource bank within three years. This plan is not only a new development blueprint for Lanhai Marine but also highly aligned with Guangzhou’s strategy of promoting the development of agricultural new-quality productivity and building a “blue granary”.

Another key highlight at the event site was that the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs signed a comprehensive deepening cooperation framework agreement on the ornamental fish industry with the China Fisheries Association and the Pearl River Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, injecting new impetus into the development of the industry. As a core participant in the ornamental fish industry, Lanhai Marine will actively leverage this cooperation platform to deepen industry-academia-research integration. Previously, it has planned to jointly establish a “Joint Laboratory of Marine Ornamental Organisms” with the team of Academician Bao Zhenmin from Ocean University of China and the South China Sea Fisheries Research Institute, focusing on tackling key technologies such as genetic breeding and disease prevention and control. In the future, it will continue to drive industrial upgrading through innovation and promote the coordinated development of the upper, middle, and lower reaches of the industrial chain.

From the small fishing boats in Weizhou Island to the international industrial park in Nansha, and from single fishing to the full industrial chain layout, Lanhai Marine has always adhered to the mission of “bringing the beauty of the ocean into thousands of households”. Its appearance at this Guangzhou Agricultural New-Quality Productivity Investment Promotion Event is not only an affirmation of the company’s achievements over 40 years of dedicated development but also a starting point for embarking on a new journey in the industry.

In the future, we look forward to working hand in hand with more peers, taking science and technology as the pen and ecology as the ink, to jointly promote the standardized, green, and globalized development of the marine ornamental organism industry. We aim to enable more people to appreciate the magic and splendor of the ocean at home and contribute “Guangzhou’s strength” to the building of a maritime power!
